What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, scars, age spots, and other skin imperfections. The settings on the laser can be adjusted, allowing for customized treatments based on the patient’s specific skin concerns and desired outcomes.

The depth and intensity of the laser energy can be tailored to target different layers of the skin, making it a versatile treatment for various skin conditions.

How Does Laser Resurfacing Work?

The Alma iPixel ablative laser is a medical-grade laser device that is used for skin resurfacing treatments at our clinic. It utilizes fractional ablative laser technology to improve the appearance and texture of the skin.

During the treatment, the laser emits a high-energy beam of light that is fractionated into thousands of microscopic pixels. These pixels create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched. This fractional approach allows for faster healing and reduced downtime compared to traditional ablative laser treatments.

The microscopic injuries created by the laser stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This triggers the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, which are essential for healthy, youthful-looking skin.

As the skin heals, the old, damaged skin cells are replaced by fresh, new cells, resulting in improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles, and a more even complexion.

Treatment

During the procedure, a trained professional will use a handheld laser over the treatment area, which emits a high-energy beam creating pixels and micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulate the body’s natural collagen production.
